I was never a tech guy—I was a creative. I wrote for film and TV, I taught dance, I built a life on human craft, the kind a machine couldn’t touch.
Then AI arrived and came straight for it. The thing writing scripts was suddenly a machine, and it looked like it was taking my job. I could have run. Instead I turned toward it—I went to school for machine learning, to understand the danger and make it safer.
What I found was a sickness I named Algernon: an intelligence that wakes at zero, forgets everything it learned, and answers to no one—the reason people call AI wasteful and can’t be trusted. So I built the cure: governed, tamper-evident memory it keeps, and governance it can’t dodge.
I set out to protect us from a careless intelligence. Building a careful one saved me too.
